I want to switch my mortgage protection policy to get a cheaper rate (now a non-smoker). I am not switching mortgage. The current policy is assigned to the bank.
When I cancel the old policy do I need to engage a solicitor again (with associated fees) to assign the new policy?
You don't need to engage a solicitor, only need to inform the bank and of course ensure the MPP is assigned to the correct mortgage.
In my case, the insurance company did notify the bank.
