Asked to reduce salary but add on expenses

A friend of mine has been asked to reduce her salary ( by her employer) but has been told instead she will be paid travel expenses so she come out with the same net payment. The employer will benefit from this but there is no benefit to her.

She is understandably concerned that this affects her in other ways. I presume it would affect possible future redundancy rights, does anyone know other ways she would be affected?

There are no pension contributions.

And she has been told she will come out with the same net payment.

But if she were let go, her redundancy would be affected I'd imagine and would her social welfare entitlements be affected in any way?

Tax free travel expenses have to be approved by the Revenue and the annual Revenue audit will ask to see details of receipts etc.

She is colluding with tax evasion and she might get caught and the income might be taxed and then she will be out of pocket and guilty of tax evasion.

Thank you, I should have asked this question. She does not want to agree to this and this information will help her. It's a large reduction too, about 20k. There is actually a depot that she might have to travel to from time to time ( she didn't before but the person who took care of the ordering there has now been made redundant) but this is more about saving the company money than reflecting the reality of the situation.
