Approx current value of 1998 deposit

Hi

I'm trying to get an approximate figure of what 14,000 Irish Punts put on deposit in 1998 would be worth in euro today. I do realise that there would be 'endless' permutations and combinations to arrive at an accurate figure, but am just looking for a reasonable 'ballpark' figure.

I've tried website that deal in relative values on historic basis, but haven't found any that cross the euro changeover. I'll check with An Post also as their saving certificates would have been a prudent investment.

Can you do the calculation as if it were still Punts up to today and then do the Punt/Euro conversion as of today's date?

I came up with €22908 in a very rough and ready calculation.
