Anyone painted their kitchen presses?

Just wondering if anyone has had their existing kitchen presses painted and if they did it themselves or got someone in to do it? Also if they replaced their kitchen worktops with a different type of top? Was it costly?

It is well within the scope of a competent diy,er. MDF or solid doors can be refinished in a multitude of colours. Probably the most awkward aspect is changing the worktops, depending on if there is a hob unit or sink set into it.

Of course this all depends on your diy level. But its not rocket science, if you are on a budget, and can be done over a few week ends.

A google on the subject should turn up lots of sites that will walk you through the process.

I hope this helps.

Yes, I've done it twice with great results.. First time was in a rented house with landlords permission. He was so delighted with the revamp that he gave me a rent reduction !! Mind you this was years ago.

Second time, my DH and I painted the units and changed the worktop and handles. We just sanded them lightly and painted them with eggshell finish paint ( I think).Make sure you clean/vaccum all dust away so your finish ends up perfect. It took a few hours to paint the doors and an evening to do the worktops.
Changing the worktop needs care and precision as you have to cut out holes for the sink, stove etc. However my DH is great at DIY so no probs there.
Not sure how much it would cost to get someone to do it for you.

I changed my kitchen worktop from white to black colour. I didn't paint it, just bought new worktops.

I got a carpenter in to do the change over, it seemed to be quite an easy job, didn't take long and very little mess - but it changed the look of the kitchen completely. He did it all in less than 1 day so didn't cost much.

I came accross this site a while back [broken link removed].
I think they have a product somewhere on their site that allows you to prime the kitchen doors before finish painting.

I painted mine myself took forever but turned out great can send you before and after pics if you want to send me your email
