Any issues with uninstalling McAfee?

Was given a PC last year with this installed and sub. will be expiring soon. Think I'll go with the free recommendations on this site when the time comes (e.g. AVG etc) but was wondering if there is anything to be aware of when uninstalling existing AV?

E.g. I believe there can be problems with Norton in this respect.

Any advice?
 
I've not heard of any. McAfee seems like a decent product. If you get a deal on upgrade it might be worth keeping it, unless theres something you don't like about it. We use it at work and have no issues with it.
 
I did this last week. You have to uninstall it properly or else you will be pestered with popups and emails from them.

Use google. I did and I got a link to a removal tool which removed everything.

Mc Afee is a terrible program for slowing down and compatibility issues.
AVG the way to go.
 
I agree with Colin79ie. You HAVE to download the mcAfee removal tool to ensure you uninstall all components. I did this sucessfully last year and then installed AVGfree and I have had no problems since.
