Any ideas for disposing of cat litter?

We have a catflap/cat fence combo. We only use the litter tray when we go on holiday.

I wonder if the litter can be rinsed and reused? Tip it into the sink and give it a good wash.
 
The litter locker just makes this so much easier. Helps to take some of the hassle out of the daily tray cleaning!!! Less trips to the bin, you don't have to use plastic bags to dispose of litter everyday, just when the locker is full. I would advise to use clumping litter which means you just scoop out the part of the litter that the cat has used and put into the locker. The clumping litter is also great because it helps cut down on the scattering of litter on the floor around the tray, after your cat meticulously attempts to cover their business!! Because this litter clumps after use, it makes it easy to scoop out, so you end up using a lot less litter. The locker comes with a cartridge, so the locker is lined in plastic, it's completely sealed so there are no odours! My cat insists on using her litter tray even if she has been out all day! So i'm constantly cleaning the tray, the locker has really helped cut down on the time I spend doing this! It was definitely one of my best buys for my cat!
 
I order most of my cat items online from www.zooplus.ie. I found they had a better variety of litter trays and clumping cat litter. Hand to have it delivered to your door as well as litter can be quite heavy!

My cats will not use the litter tray anymore since going out. They'll hold it in!! If they're ill maybe they'll use it. They prefer the outdoors and neighbours garden
 
Yes, same here, I use Lidl or Aldi, more or less the same, clumps up nicely. My cats are soso, the go outside and in the tray...

Definitely has its upside, but never use a clumping litter for a young kitten (not below about 6 months). The dust gets caught in their fur and can clump in the digestive tract after grooming. This will happen for older cats too, but will be passed naturally without problem; for kittens it takes only a very small amount to block the intestines.

Just a warning in case any new cat owners happen to read...
 
You can also get flushable litter these days - I'm not sure how environmentally friendly it is, but if we flush our own why not our cats?

Some cats have been trained to use the human toilet.
It might be on youtube.
 
I've been toying with various brands of cat litter over the past couple of months. So far hands down the best one from my point of view was 'World's Best Cat Litter'. Clumped great, and masked smells. Also very easy to dispose of. It lasted the longest of any litter I've ever had. A little went a long way.

That said I don't know if my cats were as fond of it as me. Since I stopped using it they've stopped peeing on my sofa. I've tried the Lidl but I wasn't a fan.

It seems expensive but I think it worked out cheaper for me. I got it in the Kiliney petstore and three 5KG bags lasted me over a month. Got nearly two weeks out of each bag. I got less then a week out of the 5KG Lidl bag and it caked the base with urine that was impossible to easily scoop out and left it smelling disgusting.

I pour it into an old cereal container to keep on hand and usually that results in a rush of Cat Litter dust in my face and again didn't have it as bad with the above product.

My cats seemed to think differently though but I'm tempted to reintroduce it because it was so easy to deal with. Even cleaning afterwards being able to flush away certain excess made for a very easy life.

At the moment I'm using Tesco Premium which seems inoffensive.
