any change to law society FE1 expiry time?

There was some discussion a while back as to the possibility of the Law Society changing it's "expiry" time limit for FE1 exams within which one has to have secured a training contract.
Does anyone heard anything about this?
I've had to move away from a legal career due to economic realities but wonder if I will ever be able to return to it...did FE1s in 2006.

I think it is still 5 years.
