Hi all. Am getting our entrance wall plastered at weekend - wall with 8 piers. Question is should I be using plastic or steel angle beading? When I went to get them yesterday the guy in the shop gave me steel ones - they are €1 odd a length whereas the plastic ones are €4 odd. He said it doesn't make a difference which ones i use. But I've been told since to get the plastic ones as the steel will rust in time...is this true? I can't ring the guy as I have no number for him.
sorry, cant answer your question but when my house and boundary walls were done a while back it was all the plastic beads, steel on the interior walls all right, so maybe its a rust, issue, then i wonder will that matter if your painting the walls later in time
Slookie, if its a metal bead it normally comes pre galvanised and therefore shouldnt cause any rust issues. I personally prefer to use the plastic ones for any work exposed to the elements.
Galvanised or not they WILL rust and eventually perish away.
Go buy pvc beads preferably two coat and ensure the plasterer scratch coats first.
The only metal beads for external works are stainless steel
