Am i eligible for a council house?

Hi folks,

31 year old man, have an 8 year old child who stays with me approx over 100 nights per year. I rent a room in a 3 bed house but use my parents house when i have my child over. Employed as a nurse but only on a fixed term contract therefore was refused a mortgage.

Would i be entitled to a council house or what other options are available to me?

im on my own with to kids we been on the list 4 house 9 years now there is a first come first served irelands not like n,ireland in n,ireland if i went to them tomarrow i would have keys 4 house in 1 week but hear its a lot a years waiting

i have been on a waiting list since 2000.was offered a flat in 2006(awful place in unsafe location)turned it down and still waiting.
