AIB Uncleared Interest quarterly charges being enforced out of blue?

Hi,

I'm just wondering if anyone can confirm if AIB have recently started to enforce quarterly charges on current accounts for the facility of uncleared interest at a rate of €4.70 per quarter?

For the first time ever on a 50 year AIB current account we had €4.70 quarterly charge enforced on our fee free (over 60) recently. When we queried it we were told that it was something that we would have signed up to when we opened the account. We got the statement out of the blue and were not at any stage told in advance that they were now going to enforce this facility.

I had sumthing like this with Boi a couple of years ago.
Ask too see your account application form which they should be able too provide too see if it was in there at all.
