Hello, My brother in law is driving a school bus since retiring from his previous employment, He is turning 70 soon and was preparing to stop working, He would prefer to keep working and someone told him the age limit for driving a school bus has been increased to 74 , Has anyone else heard about this, He is abroad at the moment and doesn't want to contact his boss for some reason, Thanks for any help.

There have been calls to remove the cut off age of 70 for drivers of school buses, in light of continuing demand for the school transport scheme and a shortage of drivers.

Sadly untrue as of a fortnight ago but there is pressure on to scrap the compulsory retirement age.

You can have a bus or truck licence up to any age subject to a medical.The insurance beyond 70 might be an issue with some employers.
