I read somewhere that PRSI stops being deducted from age 65.

I am retired and in receipt of a private monthly pension along with invalidity pension.

Will my pension provider automatically stop deducting PRSI once I turn 65 ?

Prsi class M applies to an occupational pension regardless of your age.
Your pension payslips will show Prsi M. There is no charge for this class of Prsi.

Prsi class S applies to an ARF. This applies up to the age you start claiming the state contributory pension or if you don't qualify for state pension, age 70.

I wonder how does an ARF provider know whether or not somebody is in receipt of a State pension?

I reached 66 in January. Zurich phoned me to check if I had started to claim the state pension. They explained that they are now required to do this to ensure that the correct Prsi is applied.

That’s reassuring

I wonder are all ARF providers that diligent.

To be fair, Zurich seem to have really good systems from various reports on here.
