Hi

Recently moved into house, have very bad reception on BBC1 & UTV and can't get BBC2 & CH4 at all. Neighbours have good reception so problem with my aerial I assume? (have amplifier)

Was wondering if anyone knew what to expect to pay for an 'aerial guy' - say worst case scenario - e.g. new aerial, other 'parts' + time? Don't really know anything about this.

Trying to weight this up against getting freeview - if there wasn't much in it I'd probably just go for the freeview option...

Any advice welcome
 
I got an Aerial guy to install an aerial on a new build and tune in the new tv. He also pointed the aerial to Limavady (I'm in Donegal btw.) so that it would pick up freeview as the signal from Limavady is 50-50 analogue/digital. He charged €120 I think including all parts & labour. Got a couple of extra aerial cables from him too f.o.c.

Got a secondhand freeview box and now have Film4, More4, BBC 3/4 etc.
 
That sounds alright - are second hand freeview boxes easy enough to come by then?
 
I got free to air sat reciever and dish you get bbc1,2,3,4 itv 1.2.3,4, film 4 zone reality zone horror zone thriller men and motors true movies 1,2 plus lots of other channels it not too hard to set up yourself but you do need patience to aim the dish right most recievers have the main channels all ready tuned in so you can set the reciever on say bbc1 and move the dish untill you get a signal you point the dish in same direction as the sky dishes and move from one side to the other if you dont get reception when you have moved it as far left and right as possible simply raise it up a little and repeat as needed one thing is to move the dish in small amounts as otherwise you may over shoot the correct position. Once you get a signal ajust it to get the best possible reception there sould be a signal level meter on the reciever check the instructions for this you may need some one to help you do this as it may not be possible to see the screen while ajusting the dish also you must use sat cable to connect and not standard co-ax use self amalgamating tape to seal the lnb connection form the elements dont use the rubber boots some times supplied with the LNB as the dont seal well
