Neighbour next door(65 year old single lady) who donot know how to use computer and internet cannot post this asked my help. The following is the quote submitted by a plumber along with carpenter in Drogheda.
Lady wants to have a Dishwasher installed and since her house is 11 year old at that time, kitchen was built by builder with only plumbing available for washing machine but not dish washer- so new plumbing needed for dishwasher by "messing" around existing kitchen presses and sink space.
also refrigerator is old and need to be removed and fitted in to integrated kitchen. i talke dto the guys myself and they said it will be 4 hours of job and they will give invoice from company including vat is the total price. please help.
Disconnect kitchen sink
Remove work-top
Reduce existing 800mm unit down to 400mm, to enable fitting of dishwasher
Make new connection to water for dishwasher
Make new connection to waste outlet for dishwasher
Supply and fit double electrical socket for dishwasher and washing machine
Re-fit worktop and sink and re-connect waste, taps etc.,
Fit Kitchen drawer unit to press beside oven
Fit Door to match
Remove existing Integrated Fridge Freezer
Install new Integrated Fridge Freezer.

Cost €470

Hi,
Price seems reasonable if it includes cost of new fridge freezer and vat. Make sure that the new fridge freezer is good quality model if builder is to provide it..

no it does not include pricce of firdge or even washing machine, price is only for labour plus vat

€117.50 an hour for doing the 4 hours work if you look at it that way? But seems fair enough to me if it is including VAT otherwise a bit steep.

Seems very expensive for such a simple enough job that any handyman would do quite easily!!!

If the €470 is for services of a plumber and a carpenter then that figure seems reasonable to me also. I was recently quoted €80 by a local plumber for a "call-out charge" before any labour or materials were included. Needless to say I didn't hire him. Make sure they complete the work properly and tidy up before you hand over the money.

Hello I have to agree with Rois that seems like a fair price to Me. I was wondering does it bother anybody else the taught of handymen being posted for every job going, after all it takes tradesmen 4 to 5 years to perfect their skill.

And what about cost of their tools, travelling time, Insurance, transport etc. Seems fair enough.

hi thats not good price ,its a GREAT price. you are getting two tradesmen for 4 hours when i went to school 2x4=8, 8 hrs, which equates to 58.75 an hour each for the time that their there, excluding travelling time.and all these plumbing and carpentry fittings ie wastes pipes screws units just magically appear in the hands of these tradesmen eh , i dont think so.ASK a solictor or an accountant to come out to your house to work leaving their warm office..I LOVE TO SEE THAT BILL........
