Advice with decking and external insulated house

I am planning some decking for the garden (bit late in the season I know). Doing some reading on the subject and the deck needs to be secured to the wall of the house. I presume this is to secure it so its not floating and waiting for a gust of wind to take it away! However, I got external insulation on my house. I presume I should avoid nailing the decking to the external wall of the house as the external insulation would not support the decking. Was thinking then of secruing the decking to the side wall of the house instead. What do you think of this? As you can probably tell from this question, I'm a bit of a novice with these types of projects so maybe another question is: Is decking an easy beginner project?

The only advice I can give is dont do it. Decking is a nightmare. It looks great af first but then ........ Constant looking after, would not do it again, have friends who say the same.

Have decking myself and love it. I actually built it at 2 different levels with steps from 1 level to another level. When the sun shines you really , really appreciate it. Once you have the preperation done it can be maintained simply. That is to say. Treating the ground underneath the decking before putting the decking in and laying some anti growth Materials etc. As for attaching it to the house, did you consider digging a shallow foundation and laying concrete underneath and then attaching the base to that. My parents did that with decking at the end of their garden many years ago.

I have a deck and a patio area. Each require maintenance. Each has their merits. Which would I prefer? Difficult to answer. They have different uses.
