I am a small busines and a friend has helped me with paperwork and website. I would like to pay her and wondered what is the best way to do it thro the business? Petty cash? It will be something ongoing so not sure s not full time either. Thank you.
She is either a supplier providing services and should invoice you and you should pay her, or she is an employee and you should operate payroll.
Depends what she does, how often she does it and where she does it - the Revenue have guidelines on who is an employee and who is self-employed - you will need to refer to this to establish the position. Note it is your responsiblity to sort this out.
