Advice over Masters to choose

Hi

I was wondering if anyone could advise me on a Masters to choose. I have been working in IT in the Pharmaceutical Industry the past few years. I am currently heavily involved with Six Sigma projects and am using IT Solutions to successfully streamline processes throughout my company. I have a degree in Business Information Systems.

To enhance my learning and career, i am now seeking a Masters. I have looked at Smurfit's MSC in Business Analytics but am looking for more feedback in the course. I am very interested in Business Analysis area and how IT can be used through reduce costs and increase competitive advantage within organisations.

Could someone recommend the MSC in Business Analytics or another Masters that might suit my area?

Do you have your six-sigma black belt? If not, this may be more important than a masters.
 
I am also working on Six Sigma projects , but more so geared towards energy reduction.

I have to re-ask the same question as the Complainer Do you have a Black Belt Certification ? You should have all the tools you need from within these courses. I know they are very expensive and some of the colleges that teach them do not have a great reputation. My manager is a Black Belt if you want me to check where he did his course but I only just completed my Green Belt last year, so I am a bit off with the Black Belt certification.
 
MBA pure and simple is the best accredited, university qualification. Choose your college wisely. Michigan is quite good - personal experience.
 
Would an MBA in UCD not be a good choice ? All my colleagues go there.
 
The Masters in Business Analytics is the mathematical / quantitative side of analysis. I think that UCD feel that the name is more 'sexy' than calling it management science. This would be quite different from the business analysis used in most IT projects where you try to find a more logical or cleverer way to get from A to B.

MBA's used to be exclusive in Ireland but now they are just expensive. It really depends on where you would like to take your career and what you are interested in. You could pursue a management career, you may want to be technical or a subject matter expert in your functional area or you may want to start your own company. This should drive your choice of course. If you are going to do the course part time, it needs to be something that you are interested in and commited to.

To answer to you, i am green belt equivalent (working on such projects like introducing a paperless business transactions project within my site, purchase orders, invoices, remittances, statement etc....)

Black belt wouldn't be a bad direction to go, i just thought a Masters would be very beneficial for my career in terms of finally ending up in management. Another part of my reasoning for looking at this course is that i currently find myself constantly chasing IT business processing solutions from the web. I want to put some structure into this whereby attending a course whereby ideas can be bounced, what is latest in this area. I have also looked to see if there are any seminar in terms of using IT improving processes throughout the business but i have no luck as of yet.
 
For like minded individuals, the Business Analysts Association of Ireland run a course. I have no experience of the association or the course but it looks interesting and it is nice to see the source of all the participants on the website.

To end up in management, there are plenty of project management qualifications discussed in other threads

Also i was wondering if anybody could advice if the use such application like Biztalk-Server. I am interested to hear from any IT Business/Systems/Process Analysts as good courses or seminars?
 
Try the Alantic University Alliance. This is a colloborative degree offered by UCC, NUIG and UL. They Offer a MSC in Lean Sigma. Graduates are considered Master Black belts - their words not mine.[broken link removed]
 
Hi - I'm in a similar situation and thinking of studying for a MSc starting in September this year. I have been looking at this MSc qualification which is a distance learning qualifcation. The modules look interesting especially the specialisation in Database Technologies.
Can I ask if anyone has studied this programme - or know anybody who has or is at present studying for this qualification? I am looking for any feedback about the programme. Many thanks.

Well i have been given the green light by my company to pursue a Masters. I am currently looking at business processes within my company in relation to IT Solutions. One of my projects involves researching the use of RFID to improve the flow of goods throughout the organisation. I am doing this in my spare time and would appreciate if anybody else has business process automation experience to advise me on areas that i could look at.

I have not seen a course out there that focuses on this.

Does anyone know of the best College in Dublin to do an MA in Digital Media?
I would need to do it in 1 year full-time [2yr p/t not an option].
I currently have a BA in fine Art and 10 years design experience [Exhibition contracting].
