Hi,

Im working for my employer for the past 5.5 yrs and enjoy my job, however my salary is not the best and I have made this known to my boss.

The company has changed over the past few yrs and has joined a multi office company.

I have been offered a role which will involve me working for the company as a whole instead of just for my boss. This means that I will have to travel to all the offices (nationwide) to do my job. All in all it means greater responsibility and work but im looking forward to it. However my salary will have to change to allow for this and for the travel, which i dont do now. Im currently earning €28k with no other benefits other than standard 20 day hol.

What would be a realistic package to bring to the negotiation table with my boss? As ive never had a travelling role before I dont know what expenses I should be looking for.

Thanks

It really depends a lot on the nature of the job. The quickest and easiest way of getting a fix on how much you should be getting paid is to check out similar jobs on the main websites like www.irishjobs.ie
This should give you a good idea of where to pitch. Milegae should definitely be a consideration and perhaps a Car allowance depending on the amount of travel.

I would say Company car should be offered as mileage allowance is okay in some circumstances but if the travel involves wear and tear on your car etc you need to consider this. Also I wonder if your car insurance would be affected as perhaps your car is only covered for private use??
