In July 2008 my parents paid €7,500 to a kitchen maker in Cork City. They also paid €2000 for a living room unit. The kitchen is a "handpainted tuplipwood" Kitchen. After about three months the paint began to crack and the doors began to shrink to the point where you can fit a €2 coin between the door and the frame. The panels on some of the doors have cracked right through. The paint is also cracked along the groves. Any doors that have not shrunk are sticking and need to be yanked to be opened.

The sitting room unit which was paid for along with the kitchen and not delivered until Feb 09. The joinings and doors were warped and my parent made them remove it again on the same day it was installed. When it was refitted the doors were still warped and no glass was deliveded. The doors were fitted one higher than the other a third time.

They have been called and visited at their workshop several times and have promised to call and fix it but any time they fix a day to call they wont show up and their phone is off.

Is there any action they can take against this company as im not sure it can be persued through the small claims court. As this company has a large workshop and fancy website they are not a small tradesman but an established business. Can anyone please advise us what to do

If it were me my first course of action would be to ring citizens advice and see what they say.
I would go to a good solicitor in your area(Try rate my solicitor to find a good one).
A solicitors letter could be sent(25-40Euro) to the company.
If they do not respond to this the solicitor may take the case on a no win no fee basis.
I hope that you have all relevant receipts for work carried out as these will be needed.
I seriously hope you can get this resolved as it is a disgrace what they have done.

You can indeed take cases like this to the Small Claims Court - Get in asap, in the current environment.
