I'm not being smart but, whatever you do, make sure it's plugged out before you go at it.

I seem to remember a similar problem years ago. I think I ended up throwing it out and buying a petrol mower. I had problems with the long grass of the first cut each year and it wasn't really up to the job.

In answer to your question, I think you should take it to whoever is going to fix or replace the blade. He/she should also put it back in place also. You wouldn't want to do a DIY repair job on it and having it fly off and damaging your leg or foot!

If i could afford it i would get small petrol one alright.it seems to be seized totally. Will have to borrow one and start saving!!

I assume that you've put the plastic spanner on the nut, held the blade in a gloved hand to stop it turning and given the spanner a good clout with a hammer?

I also assume that you've followed Lex's advice and ensured that it is unplugged from your power source.

YUP!!!That plastic wrench is useless bends in your hand i wouldnt attempt to hit it with a hammer!!!

I'd go along the lines of Billk but would spray area with a bit of WD40 or similar few mins before hand.
Not sure about the hammer though!
