Hi can anyone give me a bit of advice on doing a Montessori course either Distance Learning or Evening Course or even any good courses in fitness for children etc

Currently I am based in Mayo & can't find any suitable courses. I did locate a Course in Galway but I wouldn't be able to make it down there in time as I work in an office 9 - 5.30.

Does anyone have any ideas on good courses or what the pay is like??

Have been working admin for past 10 years and could really do with a change!

Thanks in advance for your advice :)

I know you mentioned montessori specifically but this is only one type of curriculum. Have you considered doing FETAC Level 5 course in childcare - by night in your local VEC. Bear in mind rates of pay for childcare are generally pretty poor - considering the level of responsibility, dedication etc.

Alternatively try contacting Mayo County Childcare Committee for their advice - [broken link removed]

Good luck.

Be careful which montessori course you choose, if you intend teaching in special needs schools, or special primary classes, the department of education only recognise the 3 year Montessori AMI diploma or the degree from St Nicholas. I think these are full time, but if you have a degree, the AMI have a post-graduate course, but I'm afraid it's full time.
