Advice about tumble driers

Forgive the possibly stupid question but, do all t. driers need to have a vent opening to outside? i.e. a hose to let the heat out? I am thinking of getting one but my utility is in the middle of the house with no direct access to outside - short of knocking hole in wall and running hose thru kitchen and out :(

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

No you can also have a condenser drier which requires no outside vent. The water collects instead in a little plastic pull out container which you empty from time to time.

Correct, we have a Whirlpool drier, and it requires no vent, as Vanilla said the plastic pull out tray holds all the water.

They are more efficient for sure, but if you can't knock a hole in your wall then you will have to go with the other option.Other than that run a flexi pipe from the back of the drier to a window and just put away again after use, bit of hassle but it's another option.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the advice, must get one as it just seems that everytime someone has called to the house recently I have had clothes practically hanging from the rafters!!! ;) and what with winter coming the clothes line wont get much use!!!!

Best be aware that most people complain that their bills jump quite a lot when they use their drier but you can check it out for yourself [broken link removed]
