Anybody know anything about the Advanzia bank. They are based in Luxembourg, I think. They are offering 6% on savings. If I deposited savings there, would it be protected?
Would interest on such an offshore account not be assessable for income tax at your marginal rate rather than DIRT at 20% which might erode the advantages of the higher rate if you are a 41% taxpayer? Also - the 6% is only on offer until 31st January 2008 and it's [broken link removed] which is relatively poor by comparison with many retail deposit rates on offer here in Ireland.
