What is the problem with OTP from Advanzia? I managed to log into my account today but got logged out again. Since then I cannot receive the OTP to log in again. I am back on the standard rate and wanted to close my account. I will have to reconsider opening another account if access is restricted by the a technical glitch on OTP
The issue that I posted about regarding the SMS verification is that the SMS messages are getting labelled as "likely scam".
Advanzia are now registered with the Comreg SMS database but the messages are still getting labelled as "likely scam". This might be because some of the SMS intermediary companies still need to update their own databases to reflect. (Lightyear is now registered with Comreg and their SMS messages were still coming up as "likely scam" for a while after registration but their SMS messages are now labelled correctly so hence maybe there is simply a delay post registration with SMS intermediary companies). But I am not opening a new account until this is fully resolved because I don't want to get locked out in October when Comreg will start getting such messages blocked via the providers.
My first SMS was not labelled as "likely scam". The problem is the second, third, fourth etc attempt to log in I got no SMS at all. Advanzia were saying the text/OTP was sent.
Firstly, strange that Advanzia SMS messages are getting labelled as "likely scam" for me but not for you. Maybe that means that your provider has updated their database but my provider (48/Three or whatever SMS intermediary they use) have not updated their database yet.
Secondly, strange that you got the first SMS but not the subsequent SMS mssages. Maybe try again tomorrow or Advanzia are going to have to provide you with an alternative access method.
Yes, strange is the word. Followed by frustrating...I got blocked out on too many OTP requests, so I will have to try again tomorrow. I sent them an email which is likely to take weeks to get a reply to.
I might just give up on Advanzia if there is no robust way to log in. I am with clear mobile by the way.
Some of the Mobile Virtual Network Operators can be a bit hit and miss in terms of delivering 2FA SMS messages (even before the new ComReg policy). I'm with 48 and the other day couldn't get eBay messages for logging in for most of the day and it only worked again later that evening. Others on 48 have reported much more serious and long running problems with receiving 2FA messages from various services. I've seen similar issues reported on other MVNOs too. On the other hand the root of the problem may not be with the network itself but may lie elsewhere.
