VHI Adult and 2 children renewal options

Hi, my 2 children (8 and 9) and I are currently with VHI on the Company Plan Extra Level 2 Plan. The plan was originally selected and paid for by work but now I’m paying it myself and want to be sure we are all on the right plan. I have used Swiftcare a couple of times so I think I’d like to stay with VHI to retain access to their clinics.

Our current plan seems to be a good one but I suspect it is perhaps more than is necessary for young children. Bar some mild asthma, we are currently all in good health. I’ve looked at comparisons on the HIA website but there are just so many plans I’m struggling to work out if there are comparable or better value plans without losing key benefits.

I would welcome any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks in advance.

The following VHI plan is a very good alternative to your current plan. Details as follows;

1. VHI PMI 07 10; adult price 1188pa; child price 299pa; all public, private and 3 hi-tech hospitals covered, private/hi-tech excess 150 x 1 max
per year(regardless of the number of admissions per year). Day case excess 50 per procedure. There is no excess to pay in any public hospital.
Good day to day cover included, refund of 50% for gp visits, consultant visits etc.

Regarding your current plan, Company Plan Extra Level 2, the main difference with PMI 07 10 is extra day to day cover for gp visits, etc.
I would highly recommend PMI 07 10 as an excellent value alternative but I have included 2 similar plans at cheaper prices to compare.
A plan at that level is really only worth it if you incur a lot of health expenses per year or if its paid for by your employer, as in your case upto now.
