additional stamp duty?

hey all in the last and crucial days of closing on our house, our solicitor has told us of a charge from the revenue of 1 euro on every thousand we have borrowed. I havent heard of this additional fee, it may not amount to much to some but its a couple of hundred extra euro we were expecting to put to other things?

yeah, thats part of the 'outgoings' along with the solicitors fee.

Stamp Duty is charged on the mortgage deed if it exceeds €254,000 at 0.1% and is capped at a maximum €635.

Is this different to registering the deeds in your name?
