accounting/tax opportunities

Does anyone know how easy/difficult it is at the moment to get a job in accounts/tax. I have a business degree but no accounting experience and am looking to get a start in the area but not having much luck even getting interviews, heard a few months ago that it was an employees market out there, has this changed? if anyone is working in accountancy/tax can tell me how difficult they find it filling such positions, would appreciate any advice.

C'ant get qualified tax people for love nor money. Real shortage. Know someone so desperate to get a person took somebody for compliance work for €55K for a four day week.

To go in as a tax trainee - you could be looking at about €30k (maybe up to €35k if you are lucky). A couple of years experience and your exams and if you are good you could be looking at between €50-€70K. Would recommend a smaller practice rather than one of the big ones. More experience.
