I have been hunting to move into a different job for a while now and had a few interviews for industry accounting all of which i felt wer not what i wanted.
I have my first one for a practice next week and im extremely nervous as its a great location for me and a big enough local practice i think it would be a fantastic move.
But im nervous as to whats going to be asked?
I have a few years experience in a small company, am more than half way through professional exams. I have been told by a few people a practice wont even look at me as they think i wont take the wage drop and also as i know some things they wont be able to " mould" me to there type of accountant. Is this true?
Also the question every interviewer has aksed to date is " what are your salary expectations" !! what am i supposed to say?
Why not try to answer with a 'market rate' based phrase? I find that this gives you a chance to wait and see what they are offering, but, at the same time, it sounds really logical and professional. Just a thought.
If you’re not finished your exams you could say your focus in not primarily on pay levels but rather on having good study leave entitlements- that should diffuse any salary questions!! BTW don’t be expecting big salaries going into large practices as a trainee!
Newly qualified ACCA in practice should expect excess 50k, probably more if u go out into industry, 2 years post qualification you’d be pulling in 65-70k
God i had an interview last week and im waiting for the interviewer to come back with a package today. Honestly i can say ive probably never been so nervous in my entire life!!!!!
Fingers crossed as i really want to get into practice!
Could you please advise what kind of questions they might ask me tomorrow during the interview for a job as an accounting assistant. I have 5 years of working experience in a law firm but non in the accounting area. I have masters degree in business. I am planning to start ACCA in the near future. Thanks a million. Regards
