I will soon qualify as an accountant. An option open to me would be to work abroad. Where are qualified accountants with experience in financial services (financial reporting and management accounting) most sought after? I hear firms in Sydney are crying out for accountants.. Or maybe London?
Where would you re-locate to?
Thanks.

Plenty of work here. Why relocate or is it just a personal choice? Me I'd follow the sun :)

For me the Caribbean is an obvious choice - but yes as you mention Sydney or London also. Accountants are pretty much valued everywhere I would think - although there are issues with different regions GAAP to consider - what are your reasons for relocating.

sun / experience / career?

depends on your own preferences but i would recommend australia or new zealand - plenty of well paid work and interesting places to travel around. from what i've heard the carribean can be pretty boring, even if well paid.

theres a usit talk coming up on work for accountants next sunday in westbury hotel, recruitment agents there too. heard the radio ad the other day.

I suppose it's an option open to me. The cost of living in Dublin is high and I was wondering would my standard of living be much higher in Sydney or London. Im in the 'wait-and-see' category of prospective first time buyers with approx 50K in savings. I estimate my salary to be approx 55K in 2008 if I stay in Dublin which I consider to be very good. If I buy a home in Dublin and take advantage of my first time buyers status I will potentially be stuck here for 5 years in an apartment in an area I really don't want to live in.
I figure I would have a budget of 350 - 400K to spend. Unfortunately that doesn't go too far in Dublin :(
