we're heading to Ecuador for 3 weeks over Christmas, and wondering how best to access money while travelling.
We'll bring some spending money in cash (Ecuador uses US$), but for security reasons don't want to bring it all in cash. We were going to bring travellers cheques too but can't find a bank that does these anymore. Even if Thomas Cook does them, not sure how confident we'd be that they would be honoured in the current climate, when the time comes to use them.
We will lodge money to our credit card accounts, but in the worst case scenario, if the euro fails while we're travelling, the cards may become useless.
Any suggestions on how to bring/access money?
And are we worrying too much? ( This is starting to spoil our long promised trip of a lifetime!)
