Motor AA Insurance - underwriters withdrawing

Hi all,

I have been happily with the AA for a few years now. I got a letter from the AA 4 weeks ago, saying that the underwriters of my car policy was withdrawing from the irish market - with effect 1 May 2010 ??? Unless this is a typo...

They say there is no immediate impact on my policy and that they will shop around for the best deals etc when my insurance renewal is due.

Has anyone else got this letter ? Anyone got a better/worse quote ?

What insurance company is your policy with ? If you don't know, look at your insurance certificate, which will say who you are insured with. AA are just a broker.

Maybe, the insurance company stopped issuing new Irish policies on 1 May and are honouring all outstanding policies til they complete.

thanks for the reply. Car insurance is with Provident. I was enquiring to see if anyone else who was with Provident via the AA, managed to get a better/same/worse quote.

On a Top 100 list of car insurance providers in the UK, featured in Autocar (I think, maybe another car mag) there were ranked in 16th place. So a reasonable barometer.
