Hi, am I correct to think that even 1 hour in Ireland represents a tax day for the purpose of determining tax residency? For example, a commuter taking a red-eye Monday morning flight should still consider the Monday as an Irish tax day counting towards the 183 day ceiling for automate tax residency? thanks

Yes, if you are in the state for any part of a day that is a day counted towards the residence test.

There are stories of a certain billionaire's private jet circling north county Dublin just before midnight so he wouldn't touch down until 12:01.

For this very reason.
