This is organised by Eco Quakers Ireland, which is the Eco Committee of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), in conjunction with ECCR (The Ecumenical Council for Corporate Responsibility).

This meeting is a step towards building a movement in both parts of Ireland to raise awareness about the need for ethically and ecologically sensitive financial services. It will offer an opportunity to learn about the general issues, to meet representatives from some of the providers of financial services which are already engaged in this movement, and to discuss what needs to be done.
Urgent action is required globally and locally - to finance the transition towards a lower carbon economy, based on renewable principles, and to alleviate poverty. There must be well-run and well-regulated financial institutions - to provide security for savings, and to ensure that the finance is directed to hwere it can make a worthwhile difference.

Panel Speakers:

  • Miles Litvinoff (Ecumenical Council for Corporate Responsibility)
  • Patrick Hynes (Oikocredit)
  • Paul Ellis (The Ecology Building Society)
  • Alex Connor (Triodos Bank)
  • Chair: T David Kingston (Religious Society of Friends)
