Hi,

Any info will be very much appreciated.

I am returning to work after 3 years and I am at a loss now trying to figure out all the new deductions! I am a clerical officer and am on point 5 of the salary scale so I'm really just looking to find a ball park figure of my net pay from what I can gather point 5 is now around €527 per week.

I am living with my partner and two children but I think for tax purposes I'm single is that right?

In a bit of a muddle! So really as I said any kind of info or suggestions anyone can offer would be great.

Thank you

First of all try to avoid deductions - :

1. Fill in Form 12a and send to tax office immediatley . ( otherwise you may be on emergency and pay tax . )

2. If you have medical card - present a copy of this to your new wages office ( otherwise you will be deducted incorrect PRSI / Income Levies .)

3. If you do pay A1 PRSI contributions , you can claim back the health levy in January 2011 when you receive your 2010 - P60 .

You can download my spreadsheet at http://taxcalc.eu/monthlyss to check this- it handles the various public sector deductions. Based on the outline of your marital status, if you are not married and also live with your partner you'd be treated as single for tax purposes.
Don't know if this is relevant but if you have a full medical card [not GP only] that could/might improve your take home pay- make sure to let your payroll office know.

PM me or use the email address on the spreadsheet if you need a hand with using the calculator.
