6 month contract

If you have a 6 month contract commencing on the 20 March - when does this end? Is it the 20 Sept or the 19th? Also is there need to give notice if contract expires? Can you just not show up for work the day after the contract is up?

Yes,you can show up but its not the same when you're not getting paid

I would say 19th of September would be your last day.

Presumably you would have some discussion with your manager around the lines of..."you do know I'm finishing up next week/month"... rather than just not turning up

I would say that HR will contact you a week or two before your due to leave to let you know that you finish on the 19th/20th or perhaps your line manager may ask if you want to extend your contract.

You won't be required to give notice if its a fixed term contract and you've stayed the full term, but its always good to leave a good note so don't just not turn up!

It would end on Sept 19th. If you're concerned you should ask for a written contract. I would verbally raise it with your manager though when it comes near the contract end date, they might want you to continue...
