50-YO thinking of investing in residential property for retirement

Not sure if this is the right forum to ask all this but I will start anyways.

Own my own house, no mortgage, worth about 600,000 or more. Not far off 50 agewise and have investment/saving worth approx 60/70k.

Now I am in need of guidance with what to buy or invest in the next decade or so because obviously the old retirement isnt too far off.

Lately I have an idea about buying a small house "down the country" preferably Leinster, renting it out for maybe 10 years and then moving into it ourselves on retirement, and either selling or renting the current one.

I have an awful feeling it won't be so easy though to get a mortgage, etc. at this age?

Any advise/pitfalls/recommendations gratefully received!

Re: questions and plans

Have you explicitly decided that residential property is the best investment for you now?

Re: questions and plans

Not 100% sure really, more thinking how to combine possibilties for the future as well I suppose.

Re: questions and plans

TT - I believe you are in need of professional advice. I can't facilitate there but a fee based financial adviser might be the wisest move for you.
