50/50 mortgage problems with ex wife

can anyone advise me on this topic please. my partner is currently living in co cork and he recently divorced his mad wife. she has moved out of the family home and is renting a room off her new b/friend. My partner has offered her half of the equity on the house (done legally) and her solicitors have consistently ignored my partners solicitors letters!!! he is paying for the upkeep on the house and also paying the full amount on the mortgage. shes not paying a cent (which is typical of her).
can anyone advise what he can do as she still has a key and regularly tells him " this is half my house too".. can she come and go out of the house as she pleases...??? is there anyway he can legally push her to agree to a settlement rather than keep it hanging in the air?
