2002 VW Passat

Am I right in assuming that ignition coils in 2002 passats amight be faulty and be replaced under warranty. None of the garages will answer my query until they have looked at the car? Currently have an emissions warning light on and engine running roughtly with loss of power.

Those engines have individual coils per cylinder I think, and these are a known weakness.

If memory serves me right it was only the 1.8 T engine that had this problem.
