I have a part time job where I am on the payroll. Recently my hours have been cut and I have been offered a few hours elsewhere. I will be able to do both timewise but I'm not sure how to handle it payroll wise. The second company don't mind if they pay me directly or via payroll. I was thinking I might have to register for income tax and declare the second income that way. If I go on both payrolls how do I handle PRSI etc. There isn't a huge amount of money involved either way. Any suggestions/advice would be much appreciated
Assume both jobs are normal PAYE? I went to Citizens Advice to ask about this before, and as my first job used up all my allowances, they were allocated the full SRCOP etc. It meant everything from the 2nd job, I paid PRSI, PAYE tax on every cent. It was easy to follow one it was set up. I'd ring Revenue - they are well used to this.
It just means all your allowances are used up on one job, you can split the allowances between both jobs, either way you pay the same overall amount of tax.
Not really, it still just counts as 52. Same as a person earning 50k and one earning 100k, one just pays way more for their weekly contribution than the other, it's based on income and not how many employers contribute to it in the week.
