Hi
Ya the letter was vague. I finally got around to sorting it last few days. Rang them and asked them could I be afforded the courtesy of reason for the refusal. She told me RSA weren't required to give them a reason and they weren't giving me one. I told her this was not the case and I wanted a letter either with the reason for refusal or a letter stating that RSA were refusing to give a reason why. She was a little irked at this but finally she said they'd ask RSA and get back to me no later than 24 hours later.
Suprise suprise I heard nothing for 3 days (I got the impression they thought id go away) so I rang again today to be told RSA were 'taking their time responding'. I told them to move it on as I needed the letter for my new insurer and to take it further.
Shock horror I got a call about 30 mins later saying RSA had identified a subsidence risk in the area. I told her my house had been surveyed and exhibited no signs or posed any risk of subsidence. I explained that none of my neighbours had issues with subsidence or had been refused insurance on the basis of that risk. I asked where RSA were getting their evidence and what it was. Low and behold she then proceeded to tell me they had reviewed it in the last few days and were now able to offer me insurance with no exclusions, reversing the earlier complete refusal. I asked her if she thought it was a coincidence that they only 'reviewed' the situation when I made noise about it.
She told me she would send on the renewal asap. I told her I had ample space waiting in my rubbish bin for it.
