100 trade minimum to open Interactive Brokers account?

Hi,

I am looking to open an account with an online broker and the most recommended one on this forum seems to be www.interactivebrokers.com.

However, they have a notice on their initial info page saying that you must have a minimum of 100 previous trades.

Does anyone know if this is a hard rule or if it possible for someone starting out to open an account with them (i.e. maybe through some less obvious set of links on their home page).

If it is a hard rule does anyone have a recommendation for another account for begineers?

Also how do they actually verify you have had 100 trades?

Cheers,

They may only ask you to confirm that you have had 100 trades ie without proof.

They don't verify. I have an account with them, never been asked for any proof.
