€500 rent tax credit

Hi does anyone know if student living in house with landlord are entitled to the €500 rent credit. And is it still the case under the rent a room scheme that tenants dont have to be registered with the RTB.

Does s 5.3 not mean that the credit is not available where a parent pays the rent in a "rent-a-room" type situation?

This is strange. The section you refer to does suggest that the relief is not available where the parent pays the rent in a rent a room situation.

I'm sure I've read elsewhere that the relief is available in these circumstances.
