Stamp duty on buying a Site

At the moment I am looking to purchase a site worth €130,000 which will be subject to 8% stamp duty. Does anyone know if there is any way around paying this duty based on the fact that land under €120,000 are exempt from duty.

Not really - if the market value of the land is €130K then that is the figure on which SD will be calculated.

I think you are mistaken here. Land under €10,000 is exempt from stamp duty. I think you might be confusing this with the exemption for houses which is €127,000.
Unless you can reduce the asking price your going to have to pay the stamp duty.
