I have a 2007 S-MAX 1.8 TDCI. For the past week I have noticed a sort of "burnt oil" smell entering the cabin. From some investigation by myself I noticed
1) Smell is definitely entering cabin via dash airvents.
2) If I switch off the ventilation system (off button on climate control panel) there is no smell. Also it does seem to happen if I have ventilation on and aircon on. Only happens with ventilation on and aircon off.
3) If I start the car and open the bonnet I also get the same smell from the engine bay from the top of the engine block.
I have checked and there is no obvious sign of an oil leak and smoke etc.
Just wondering if anyone has had such an issue? Car was serviced in Jan and problem just started last week. Only other point is car was idle for 2 weeks before this. I will book it into my local Ford deal but am likely to be given a date in 3-4 weeks time (by which time I suspect the problem might have gone).
