Can anyone help with this one.

I am going to be getting around 25k for my wedding from my mum (my dad has passed away and left this for me. I am going abroad to get married instead and I am going to put this to better use. I was just wondering what taxes will be on this as I was told I would be taxed because of marrying abroad?!!! is there a way to maybe split this coming from maybe my brother and mother as separate gifts to lessen the tax.

The exemption threshold on gifts from parent to child is almost €500K (cumulative) so I don't see the €25K gift from your mother giving rise to any tax liabilities (unless she has previously gifted you c. €500K!).

I'm not sure why getting married abroad would be relevant but I can't see that triggering any tax liability either. If in doubt get professional advice.
