Hi were looking to book fliights and hotel for New York for Winter '07. I know there are companies who provide package deals. Can anyone tell me who they are.
Thanks in advance
P.S I've checked previous threads but to no avail

I've used arrowtours.ie in the past to book city breaks and had no problems. You might find it cheaper to create your own package by booking the flights and hotel seperately on the net.

Virgin Atlantic do great packages, downside is that they are from the UK.

You could also try . They do package tours to [broken link removed].

I agree, if you shop around on the internet, you can get good deals on flights and accommodation separately.

Having said that some websites like will allow you to book flights/hotels deals and they are usually good value.

I've just returned from a trip to the USA with this company and it has to have been my worst ever holiday to date. Long hours spent in a coach, poor tour guide, a mixture of the good, the bad and the ugly as far as accommodation was concerned. Also what might read as a very interesting itinerary turned out to be less than what was expected including changes to the itinerary without being notified beforehand.

Thanks Slurry....
Apparently, there's a company located in Limerick that are meant to do excellent package deals. Does anyone know who they are?

Re: Package deals to New York,,,with who???

we booked a trip to new york last year ourselves over the internet, booked flights on airlines website (continental airlines), booked hotel through hotels website(hotel roosevelt) and booked coach/bus transfer to Manhatten through their own site. Got insurance through getcover.com

for a 4 night package it worked out approx €200 per person cheaper to do the hard work ourselves compared to if we were to go into a well known American holiday travel agent in Dublin... ( for same flights, same hotel and so on..)

Shop around the Internet before making any decisions, you have loads of time before you trip so get plenty of prices.

Don't know for sure if this is the one in Limerick you are talking about.

Travel Agents & Tour OperatorsOnly recenetly heard of them, they are suppose to specialise in tours, don't know anything else about them though.

No affiliation and no knowledge of them but sure it doesn't cost to get a quote.

You should book cheap flights through www.aerlingus.com and arrange your own accomodation. We did this in August with our three kids (youngest 7 years) and found a hotel through We stayed at the Embassy Suites in the Financial District on the Hudson near Ground Zero. It was near the subway and next door to the Ellis Island-Liberty Ferry, Century21, J&R Electronics, restaurants etc. Once you get to NYC, have done your research and have a couple of good guide books (Lonely Planet and Rough Guide), then getting around is a doddle on the subway or using yellow cabs. You cannot be near everything in NYC, but, you can easily find the great museums, art galleries, shopping at Macy's and Banana Republic and Gap etc, Central Park, and restaurants yourself. You can also arrange a helicopter trip around Manhattan when you get there at $60 per person!

We have found that a lot of package deals are rip-offs and are aimed at people who are lazy or don't have the confidence to do it themselves or young back-packers who don't mind multi-connection flights. Do your research. A lot of Irish know NYC better than Dublin!

One comment. We were stunned how New Yorkers, though rushing around, would stop and really go out of their way to help us every time we stood still and looked into a guide book! Also, treat NYC like Dublin or any capital city and you will be safe.

Whatever you decide, enjoy your visit to a great city!

Absolutely, I have been to New york three times and found the people there to be much more helpful and friendly than in our own country.
