    How to verify a funeral

Hi Ninsaga - I answered your pm. Thanks for taking the time to send that on. Tweety, Thanks for the positive comments. We really appreciate all feedback, good and bad, for the site. Again - it would really help us if you simply asked your local funeral director to enter his death notices. It...

    How to verify a funeral

Hello - my sister and I operate RIP.ie and I was dismayed to see that Samantha felt we do not update the website on a regular basis. We are the most comprehensive listing for death notices in Ireland and the content is updated throughout each day. Each funeral director can add death notices to...

List of annually run small business competitions?

Hi, just did a search for small business competitions and saw this. Does anybody have personal experience of these competions - in a few of the ones I have seen it seems more of a revenue generator than an award ceremony - costing over €100 per head to attend. Are these awards worth the exposure?

    Local Town Websites

Hi all, looking for your opinion and help. I want to locate the sites in Ireland you look to for local news and events. To give you an idea, the likes of www.castlebar.ie, www.kildare.ie and www.realboyle.com are excellent, in my opinion. So what is your local site, and how valuable do you find it?

    Old death notice in paper

Hi Shork Maiden , just saw your thread. Unfortunately, we have only been online since July 2006, so it is unlikely we will have your notice. I would love to help though and if you pm me with the date and name I will try to locate it for you. I think your best bet would be contacting the Funeral...

    Best way to advertise

Papers are an expensive way to advertise and you always run the risk of being shoved in between 10 other more well known venues. What about contacting all the local party planners and caterers. Also maybe contact funeral directors, photographers, video ppl and anyone else who may have contact...

    Giveoutabout.com

I think this site is probably aimed at a fairly young audience - more bebo than Business Post. Seems a strange publication for this?

Need help for unusal promotional ideas

Yes, you are correct, Ivory has pinpointed the major reason why Funeral Directors are disinclined to use the service - ie it is an extra hassle. However, as has been already pointed out, it is an opportunity for us to help solve a problem for this group. We have lots of benefits for the F...

Need help for unusal promotional ideas

Hi Ivory, great idea - and i think it would work perfectly for e mail and fax, but would there not be too many variables for a phone service [which many Funeral Directors use] ie would it run along the lines of press button 1 to fwd to the indo...press 33 for LMFM? If you know of anywhere that...

Need help for unusal promotional ideas

Ivory, you won't believe me when I tell you that we actually went down this road - I still think it may be a runner, but the whole issue of accountability in the case of an erroneous notice. Also the papers would be loathe to take the notices from us, as we are effectively the competition to a...

Need help for unusal promotional ideas

We have been going around trying to meet the Funeral Directors, and in the main they have loved the idea. The problem is that they have enough to be doing without having to make additional calls, faxes or e mails. Even though it is totally free, it is only pressure from the public which will...

Need help for unusal promotional ideas

Ivory, might take you on as a consultant .. nay, guru!! We actually cover our costs by linking all related services , such as florists, cards, headstones etc in our services directory. And we have a private area just for the Funeral directors too - but the idea of dry cleaning suits and...

Need help for unusal promotional ideas

good ideas ivory, and we have gone through a lot of these possibilities already. we could use a secondary medium like the radio except we prefer to have it in written form - but you are right and we'll have to think along these lines.

Need help for unusal promotional ideas

Hi Ivory, i can appreciate that people might just assume we are the same as funeralannouncements.ie but we have far more to offer. 1. we have approx 60 - 80 deaths every day announced, where it may take funeralann up to 6 days to have these details. 2. we have various facilities whereby...

Need help for unusal promotional ideas

HI, this is a difficult request - we would like some promotional matierial for Funeral Directors - to remind them to post details with our site when they are placing notices in the papers, radios etc. So it would have to be dignified, useful and memorable -- oh and not too dear either as we are...

VAT back on investment property to let

Hi, as far as i Know anyone who intends to be a landlord can do this on a new property. The VAt is reclaimed initially but be aware that you must then charge VAT on your rent. This is essentially like a free long term loan as you get the money up front and "repay" in dribs and drabs over the...
