    Asbestos Roof Tiles

Thanks for the comments, I would say the guy I got is fairly confident that it is asbestos and he does have the HSA licence as well. Getting another guy out on Friday morning to see what he says and to get another quote, so I will see how that goes first before committing to anything.

    Asbestos Roof Tiles

I bought the house in 2004 but it had been done at least 10 years before that.

    Asbestos Roof Tiles

I need a job done to a section of roof that was probably done around 40 years ago. The roofer has come back to say they are asbestos tiles so hence it is a lot higher charge. He sent up a drone to have a look at the roof so there was no physical examination. Is it easy to tell if it is an...

Home insurance - what are people paying on average?

Got my renewal email from Chill, came in at €587 with the existing insurer Liberty but Chill said they can get it for €335 from Allianz. I just went on the Allianz website and got it for €245 even though I upped the rebuild and contents. Had to do a double check on the info I put in just in...

    Maintenance Required on Rental Property

Hi all, I have work I want to do to a property I rent out. It involves work to the bathroom and would mean it can't be used for approx. 2 days. I have tenants and they are not too forthcoming in accommodating this, I have asked them when would suit them but it is only at weekends or times...

    Squeaky/Crackling Laminate Wood Floor

Yeah it's smoking, so a lot less pressure needed? Could take a lot longer than I thought!

    Squeaky/Crackling Laminate Wood Floor

So I bought this blade but still the same problem, went blunt after cutting around a foot, very surprised with it as says it cuts through nails! Are there better ones I can/should go for? Thanks

    Squeaky/Crackling Laminate Wood Floor

Finally got around to starting this however I can't cut the laminate around the legs as too difficult to get in at without dismantling the kitchen. I decided to cut a narrow strip out instead inside the kick boards. The problem is I can't get a blade that doesn't go blunt and burn out after...

Choosing between two dishwashers - any advice?

I thought the same about the cutlery shelves but when we got one I actually found it a lot easier. However it does depend on how far you from your cutlery drawer I suppose.

    Squeaky/Crackling Laminate Wood Floor

I'll have to take off a kick board and check that, I would be surprised if they aren't. Sounds like a good idea!! Would you just cut out a couple of cms around each leg or all the way around the perimeter if possible?

    Squeaky/Crackling Laminate Wood Floor

Yeah, it was the one for underfloor heating. I have a thermostat in the kitchen since Tuesday that has a humidity reading as well. It was reading 74% on Tuesday evening and the creaking was very loud, today it is reading 50% and there is very little creaking so it does seem to be an expansion...

    Squeaky/Crackling Laminate Wood Floor

Going to check to see what the expansion gap is later on this evening but initially left a 1cm to 1.5cm all the way round. I don't think the tongues have failed as they are still tight with no gaps. It is worse in the kitchen........maybe this is because the kitchen was installed on top and the...

    Squeaky/Crackling Laminate Wood Floor

The subfloor was ok except for near the doors where there was definite rises so I was expecting some issues around these areas but more that it wouldn't feel solid underfoot, which was the case for the first month and something I could get over. However now the snapping/crackling noise is in...

    Squeaky/Crackling Laminate Wood Floor

Hi all, Any advice on how to fix a squeaky/crackling laminate floor without ripping it all up? I put it down myself (probably a bad idea in the first place) in April, gave it a couple of days to acclimatise and left a few mms all the way round for expansion. Probably should have used leveling...

Best broadband deals available at moment?

Moving into a new house soon and looking at the broadband and tv offers on bonkers. There are fairly good monthly prices for the first 12 months and then it normally doubles after that. Just wondering how easy is it to move provider after the 12 months? Presume you have to return the old router...

Final Valuation on a New Build

Hi all, Just wondering what is required to be finished as part of a final valuation on a new build in a development? As mentioned in another thread we are looking for an extension to our loan offer and may only get a month rather than 6 months. AFAIK the house is basically finished but there...
