    Flight cancellations

Is there any comeback? I had travel insurance booked (single trip). Unfortunately my partner's parent passed the day we were due to fly. Our accommodation charged the first night due to late cancellation which is fair enough. I'm not interested in pursuing it if it will be hassle but...

How much of a mortgage am I eligible for?

My partner owns a house already. It is in an area that is quite popular so we don't envisage an issue in selling it. I would be a first time buyer. Is there an option to buy together with a discounted rate or do I lose my first time buyer rate because he already owns a house? Would we have to...

Marriage called off - what are individual entitlements?

Maybe each case is individual but I will ask here anyway. A friend was due to get married but it got called off. They had just built a house, on her parent's site. She lives in house. He is still contributing to mortgage. Things didn't end well and it's all a mess. Solictors involved. He is...

What do I need to do to get mortgage approval?

Thanks all. I will have to look into setting up a direct debit I think. He was relying on part time and erratic work for the past 2/3 years and so didn't want 'rent' going into his account each month in case this would affect his social welfare.. He has a job now so maybe that is irrelevant now!

What do I need to do to get mortgage approval?

Thanks all. My partner is my current 'landlord' and I pay the rent directly to him. He doesn't want it direct debit. Is there another solution? Have set up a direct debit for savings - €300 monthly, and I already save €440 a month with the credit union (comes out of wages) so that's ~ €740 I'm...

Primary Teaching as a late vocation

Hi SCurry This is probably too late now but I thought I'd reply anyway. My partner went back to do a postgrad in primary teaching at the age of 33. Fast forward 6 years and he's qualified but finding it difficult to get employment. The uncertainty at an older age is really horrible, and...

What do I need to do to get mortgage approval?

It is likely that I will be looking for a mortgage within the next year. I am in a permanent & full time position for the past 8 years. I have had various car loans over the years but have been loan free for about 2 years now. I have a credit card, which I clear fully every month. I pay my...

What to do with my savings?

I've only switched to PTSB within the last year so unfortunately that doesn't sound like an option for me, sounds like a great deal though!

What to do with my savings?

Hi, I'm looking for some advice. I have finally saved up 10,000 in my current account - do you have any advice on what I should do with it to get the best return? I'm with Permanent TSB, and would like something with no risk. I also have 10,000 saved with the credit union. Also bear in mind...
