Is it possibly to remortgage a house for renovations/extension if the mortgage is already paid off? what are the costs associated with this? are there solicitor costs? or do you just deal with the bank. Thank you

Another pay off mortgage early scenario

I logged on to post a similar question. My LTV is < 50%, with AIB, so 2.75% interest with 20 years left, I have some money in shares and thinking of selling to reduce the mortgage as much as possible. I am concerned that over time inflation will increase (including salaries) and interest rates...

How to motivate borrowers to switch to a lower rate with their existing bank?

In fairness I think those people reading this thread are clued in already on how to reduce payments or where the best deal is. So our suggestions might not be the best. you really have to approach people that haven't changed and ask them why not? (not those that cant change because of negative...

I received a letter today saying that my LTV cannot change as it was determined at the state of my mortgage term and stated in my contract.

Successfully got AIB to move me from a 3.3% to 3.1% variable mortgage rate.

I was informed the same, its tied in when signing the contract... so why should the op be the exception, different customers different treatment? Maybe its to do with the capital and the value of the repayments associated with that... they would risk loosing someone with small repayments versus...

Why Do EBS NOT pass on new variable rates to new customers - When AIB Do

AIB doesn't give you they <50% LTV rate when your LTV drops belove 50%. They only give you the LTV rate you sign up to initially.. its one of the reasons I'm looking to change bank... so I can get a better LTV rate somewhere else...

KBC allows mortgage holders to redraw overpayments - is this still available?

Was reading through the whole thread, delighted to see a kind of offset mortgage! Pity they seem to be doing away with it!

ptsb to offer 2% cash back to new customers

I may be wrong, but isn't the cash back also to cover solicitor fees during the transfer? Also, for someone that wants to change to a lower LTV, there is competition to attract with a cash offer... As you cannot change your LTV interest rate with your current provider, changing bank is the only...

Just wondering if this statement is still true in the second post on this thread: "AIB: Loan approval lasts for 12 months No current account fees for the account from which you pay your mortgage. ( orth about €80 per year.)" I am currently paying fees on the current account that the mortgage...

    Mortgage interest rate increases.

Brendan and Bronte, thank you. It was when reading though data/Blogs etc on line the thoughts on trends of the interest rates came into my head. I didnt really see trends on how it was expected to go over the next few years. With regards overpaying mortgages there are some great discussions on...

    Mortgage interest rate increases.

I agree with your comment Brendan, but some people might just be more educated in the area than me. I'm just in the process of trying to decide on whether to overpay a mortgage, so trying to decide how interest rates might go, how inflation will go, will salary increases keep up with...

    Mortgage interest rate increases.

Hi all, I've searched the forums here and did some research on google, but would like to open a discussion. My question is, when do people think interest rates will start increasing? Its all being somewhat good news stories in the last year with some banks finally dropping their interest rates...
